Ellen Kramer  MCPH,  RSHom is the Course Director for the College of Practical Homeopathy.

The College offers students the opportunity to obtain a Licentiate in Homeopathy which is the standard qualification for practice in the UK. It qualifies you to register for membership of one of the professional bodies representing Homeopaths and to start your own practice. We provide a flexible programme so students can obtain this qualification at CPH via a number of different routes depending on their circumstances. You can study for a qualification via our three or four year part time courses, a two year full time course, or Distance E learning. It is also possible to change between these courses at appropriate times. We also provide Post Graduate courses in Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Iridology, as well as seminars and workshops on a range of related subjects.

Degree or not – CPH provides a vocational training which means a career-specific, practical and skills-focused approach is used. If you want to understand homeopathy and become a successful practitioner then it entails developing an alternative perspective on health and this is not something that can be learnt properly from an academic training. There is no intention for the profession to become degree entry so treat with caution any claims that it will. Our approach is best suited for adult learners and those who are looking for a career change.

As a vocational college our emphasis is on practical application as the base to any learning. Teaching homeopathy solely as an academic subject does not give students a good grounding to be a successful homeopathic practitioner. Homeopathy is essentially a peoples business and real learning comes from seeing patients. We provide a comprehensive reference manual that will support students for the rest of their professional lives so students do not have to rely solely on the notes they take in class. There are no essays, exams or continuous testing. Instead there is a process of continual assessment which we have found to be more effective for our adult students.

This unique emphasis on practical applications leads to students who :

• have the ability to thoroughly analyse a case and an understanding of the different methods available to support appropriate prescribing.

• leave with the ability to appropriately support clients in the use of nutrition and herbs to help in their treatment program.

• start seeing patients early on in their clinical training

• are taught how to set up and run their own student clinics as early as possible, preparing them for their own practices by graduation.

and

• our graduates leaving equipped with the confidence and competence skills that allow them to succeed as professional CAM practitioners.

CPH provides a very different learning environment to the average college – this enables our students to become the highest quality practitioners, a process that requires commitment, dedication, openness to being challenged and to challenge. It requires the development of your sense of humour, humility and compassion for yourself and others, and a willingness to get it wrong and still turn up the next day with a smile on your face and have another go.

CPH is small, friendly and supportive. Students from all over the world chose to come here. Read what our recent graduates have to say about the College.
