Overseas Students Information
Information for International Overseas Students:
You can only get a visa for full time courses, if you do not hold a British or EEA passport and you will need a student visa to study in the UK.
CPH is very keen to welcome overseas students from different parts of the world who have a burning desire to gain a world class homeopathic education.
If you apply for our fulltime course you will have to show you have paid your first year of fees (currently £5750), plus enough money to cover your first year in the UK.
The UKBA changes its criteria and fees regularly so you should go to their website to see what the current requirements are:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/
(If you do not meet the criteria or do not have sufficient funds you should consider our Distance E learning course)
Briefly to be able to travel to the United Kingdom as a general student, you must pass a points-based assessment and score 40 points before you come. You score:
• 30 points for a visa letter from a licensed sponsor; and
• 10 points if you can show you have enough finances to cover your course fees and monthly living expenses (known as maintenance).
One of the key changes introducing in 2010 is the requirement for sponsors to assess the English language ability of students studying courses below degree level (except for foundation degrees), to level B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). This change will take effect from 3 March 2010 and will apply to students who are not nationals of majority English speaking countries (A list of countries that they consider to be majority English-speaking countries is published in their guidance for applicants under Tier 2 of the PBS which is available on their website via the link (below):
www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/……
They are also raising the bar on the minimum level of study an English language student may follow, from A2 to B2. From early April, sponsors will be required to test their students using one of a number of approved test providers, broadly based on those already approved to operate English language testing for other parts of the PBS. Then by early summer they expect to have a list of approved test providers who will be able to offer secure, reliable English language tests. Students applying from this point will then be required to take a test with one of their approved providers.
Can I work in the UK whilst studying? You will be able to work:
• part-time work during term-time which is no more than 10 hours a week;
How does the “Register of Sponsors” work?
You can only apply to a college that is a Licensed Tier 4 Sponsor. These colleges are licensed by the UKBA as sponsors and are able to issue students with a Certificate of Acceptance to Study (CAS) which is an essential part of applying for a student Visa. All private colleges and universities in the UK must be accredited, and therefore on the “Register of Sponsors” or visas will not be obtainable by their prospective students.
How do I ensure that the college I have chosen is on the “Register of Sponsors” in order to successfully obtain a CAS (Certificate of Acceptance to Study) and therefore a visa?
The UKBA’s list of institutions on the “Register of Sponsors” is published online. Students and Entry Clearance Officers (ECOs) will be able to check whether a particular private or public college is listed. Soon, students will be able to complete an online form to assess the likelihood of their visa being issued, making potentially unsuccessful applications less likely.
CPH has been licensed by the UK Border Agency to enrol international students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System.
